Sedation Services

Sedation

I would like to inform the Tehachapi community of some interesting dental procedures that we offer. For the last 11 years I have dedicated myself to developing additional dental skills that would benefit my patients.
A great percentage of the population has dental fears, needle fears, do not numb well, gag easily. Others require dentistry that is so extensive that they will start but never finish. The answer to treating these patients is intravenous sedation and anesthesia. With intravenous sedation and anesthesia we can do extensive dentistry in one appointment and better control the quality of the care being given.
We routinely provide intravenous sedation and anesthesia for oral surgery (tooth removal, including wisdom teeth) , endodontic procedures (nerve treatment of teeth) , restorative (fillings, crowns, bridges ) , implants to replace a single tooth or multiple teeth, immediate denture following removal of teeth. We try to see dental emergencies patients on the same day they call. Doctor is in the office on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays appointments made ahead of time can be made on weekends or evenings.
A procedure that we now offer is the all on 4 Nobel Biocare detachable bridge. Patients with terminal dentitions due to decay or periodontal disease are candidates. This is a very desirable method of restoring a dental arch, upper or lower with 12 teeth per arch. The beauty of this procedure is that there is no sinus lifts and augmentation or bone grafting. Following removal of the teeth the prosthesis can be placed on 4-6 implants the same day. Patient can leave the office with his teeth fixed to his jaw the same day. They do not come out . This procedure can be done for patients that are currently wearing removable dentures. They will no longer have to use adhesive or worry about embarrassing loose dentures.
Another great service we provide is treatment of sleep apnea with an oral appliance. Sleep apnea affects a great percentage of the population. Symptoms include snoring, tired and feeling fatigued, high blood pressure, awakening from sleep gasping for air or choking, waking up with headache, fall asleep while driving, unexplained awakenings from sleep, lack of energy upon awaking. The treatment for sleep apnea is the CPAP. Unfortunately this is a very uncomfortable and complicated appliance and 75% of patient needing to use the CPAP cannot tolerate it. The dental oral appliance is the solution. It enjoys a high success rate and is well tolerated by patients.
There is a minimal fee for whatever xrays are taken to determine treatment needed. If an all on 4 procedure is the treatment being considered a cat scan will be needed before doing the procedure but not for the consultation. Patients interested in making an appointment can call 661-822-3727. We have an emergency number (661) 972-6305.
